Karen Rance is a 39 year old Freelance Professional Photographer based in West London.
Karen prefers to be called Kaz! She lives in West London, UK, with her fiancée, Tina, and their beautiful 7 year old daughter.
Kaz has a very open-minded and diverse persona. She is very much a people's person having almost 23 years experience in customer service/management.
Kaz first studied photography at the age of 17 when she attended East Berkshire College in Maidenhead. She did a three A-Levels in Photography, English Lang/Literature and Journalism alongside GNVQ Media Studies, Film Studies, and Desk Top Publishing.
Due to the unforeseen and sudden death of her beloved father in 1998, she had to put her dream career on hold, and decided to go straight out into the working world to help support her mother. She’s had numerous jobs and ended up working in the aviation industry for 7 years.
In 2016, her mother passed away after a very short battle with cancer, and after a short consideration Kaz decided to quit her full-time position and become familiar with DSLR cameras and Digital photography.
In October last year she began studying with The Photography Institute - went out and spent a small fortune on equipment; Nikon D850, Nikon D7500 and studio/lighting equipment and building up my portfolio with events, weddings, still life and gigs.
Kaz passed all 12 modules and assignments to which she received a Diploma in Professional Photography in June 2018. Since then she’s been hired by the NHS Guys and St Thomas LGBT Forum, City Dynamics London, Smoking Goats (up and coming rock/pop/folk band for gig/studio recording sessions), The Lord Nelson Pub in Brentford, Impact (London office) and has two weddings under her belt, and a few more bookings for next year.
Kaz shoots a wide range of subjects and topics, but tends to focus on documentary style (especially weddings/events) and specialises in weddings, LGBTQ+ weddings, still life, and corporate photography.
Influenced massively by the amazing late Irving Penn. Kaz has had a winding path in life but is now pursuing her all time passion and career.
